UKMA Tournament 2012

Hi folks
We've been a bit rubbish this year..
We haven't got together very often, we didn't join the UKMA..
BUT!
we will be making an appearance at this year's tournament in Guildford!

Tournament

Well we're back from the UK Open Riichi Tournament, held by the lovely folk at the UK Mahjong Associacion (UKMA). You can find out all about them here http://www.ukmahjong.co.uk/

One of our own club members came 1st! Well done Steven.

As a club we have now decided to try to expand, and join the UKMA .

We will be meeting soon to discuss a statement and club rules. I'll post here and on the facebook group as to when this will be happening.

2011 UK Riichi Mahjong Open

The most exciting time of the year has finally come.

Registration has opened for the UK Open Riichi Mahjong tournament, held in Guildford. 2011 will be the second year of an open tournament, and at least four of us are planning to head down and take part.

It will be taking place on the 25th of June, and places are limited, so if you plan on attending, get your registration in quickly.

In the run up to the tournament we hope to be switching our sessins to more official EMA rules, primarily being more strict on chombos, but we will practice using the EMA ruleset during June, as open Tanyao is not allowed as a yaku, which changes the game.

Hopefully June will see more official meetups as we practice to put in a good showing at the tournament.

Monthly Meeting November 2010

We will be booking an area in the upstairs part to the left of the bar. This bit has lots of tables and better lighting than where we were last month :)

Bring a set if you have one, and invite anyone you think might be interested!

First meeting

Okay, the first session has been planned.
We're planning on meeting at 5pm on Sunday 24th October at the Hedley Verity pub.
We welcome players of all age groups and skill levels, from complete beginners (who we will happily teach) all the way to mahjong pros (If you are a mahjong pro, please give us tips).
There is no membership fee, and we hope to keep it that way.
If you have your own set, please bring it along, otherwise we may not have enough for everyone to play.
The pub can be found opposite the Morrisons Supermarket on Woodhouse Lane in the City Centre.
The postcode for those who wish to look it up online is LS2 8JT.

Finally, a note for clarity: We will NOT be playing for money or any kind of other gambling. This is a purely recreational club.
